Student Success Stories
I wanted to begin my journey of going back to school since I finished high school. Let me just give you a quick run down of every possible road block that was placed in my way along this journey. First of all, I was married at the early age of 20 and had my first child when I was 21 years old. I was actually in school at West GA Technical College during my pregnancy. I was taking LPN classes. Due to complications of my pregnancy, I was placed on bed rest at just 12 weeks into my pregnancy. This of course interfered into my classes and I stopped going and put it on the back burn.
I soon met the man of my dreams. His name is Chris and we have been married now for 11 years. We had our first son on January 23, 2001. Unfortunately, Morgan was born at 26 weeks and he weighed 2 lbs and 15 oz and he died from NEC at only 10 days old. As devastating as you can imagine this was for me – school was not on mind. Then on September 26, 2001 I had my son, Jonah. Jonah was born at 24 weeks and weighed 1 lb 8 oz. Jonah lived 2 months before dying from several complications of being born so prematurely.
After the death of two sons I found myself very withdrawn from everyone for a very long time. I was slowly able to overcome this although to this day it’s still very difficult. I didn’t work for several years and just stayed home with my daughter and soaked myself in her. I had just started feeling like I was ready to give school another try when we decided one more time to have a baby.
I have been staying home with him and just went back to work in March 2009. I got a job as a medical records clerk. That once again sparked my interest with a medical career. I knew that going to school away from home was not an option for me because I wanted to be home with my family every afternoon after work. I did a search for online schools and really checked into each school’s background. Allied Health seemed to be a perfect fit.
I am very intimidated by the whole process of getting started of school. Tasha with Allied Health made it so easy for me. She walked me through every step of the way. I have truly enjoyed everything Allied Health has to offer and so grateful to them all. The professors are truly awesome! I just took my National Exam today and passed. Thank you Allied Health for everything!
